Norwegian government contributes to Ebola response in DR Congo
This week, the World Health Organisation took the rare step of classifying the ongoing Ebola outbreak in eastern Congo as a “public health emergency of international concern.” This was just days after a first case of the virus was confirmed in the major city of Goma on the border with Rwanda.
At the request of the WHO and the EU, the Norwegian government are sending equipment and three experienced paramedics from Oslo University Hospital to train medical staff in Congo and Uganda in the use of the EpiShuttle.
“It goes without saying that we contribute to the international fight against Ebola. […] If asked, we are ready to contribute with more equipment and expertise.”
